Yala Block II, the park’s most remote and rugged zone, is an untouched wilderness often called “Sri Lanka’s Mini Africa.” Vast flat plains and scattered monsoon forests define its wild charm.

What sets Block II apart is the extreme 4WD safari experience—accessible only by river crossing, each journey feels more like an expedition than a game drive.

At Potthana, where the Menik River meets the Indian Ocean, visitors can dip in the cool river mouth with views stretching to Minihagalkanda, an ancient Miocene-era marine fossil bed on the horizon.

With raw beauty and untamed landscapes, Yala Block II promises unforgettable memories.

Special Notes for Safari Visitors

Currency: Only Sri Lankan Rupees accepted at the park.
Resident Permit: Carry your Sri Lankan resident permit physically to get local ticket rates.

Safari Timings:

Morning Safari: Be at the park entrance by 6:00 AM
Evening Safari: Be there by 2:30 PM

Ticket Counter:

Opens at 6:00 AM, closes at 4:00 PM
Must buy tickets before 4:00 PM

Park Hours: Open from 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM

No driving allowed between 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Dress Code: Wear light-colored clothes to avoid disturbing wildlife.

Vehicle Rules:

Do not leave valuables unattended.
Do not get down from the vehicle except at designated areas.

Prohibited: Alcohol, fire, loud music, feeding animals, collecting animal/plant material.

Before Leaving: Check you have taken all your belongings.

Essentials: Bring camera battery, sunglasses, insect repellent, water, and snacks (if not included in your package).
